Scholarship Recipient: Verity Pulford

Verity Pulford was in the first group to join us at the studio in mid May, for her Glass Lab scholarship, funded by the Culture Recovery Fund. Her delicate and intricate work is inspired by organic structures- in particular the small details- the shapes and textures of algae, fungi, lichen, moss and ferns. At the Glass Lab she experimented with kiln casting natural shapes.

"I was delighted to be offered a scholarship at The Glass Foundry. My aim was to explore the techniques of creating 3d glass forms and how these could be incorporated into my current work. I enjoyed my week thoroughly, I learnt so much which I can take forward and created some lovely experimental pieces which I will be exhibiting later this year at The Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool as part of The North West's Craft Council's - Year of Craft. The warmth, expert knowledge and generosity of Fiaz was wonderful and I am truly honoured to have been included in this group of talented makers and artists. I look forward to further collaborations and projects. Many many thanks for this opportunity."
