"I was excited to be offered a Scholarship at the Glass Lab, particularly as working in glass was completely new to me. I was also grateful for additional support from the Creative Scotland Open Fund. The notion of exploring ambiguities and correspondences between media naturally excites me as I strive not to be restricted by my use of media. My aim was to explore the potential of glass as a material that works with other forms and media within my practice, mainly print and sculpture. I experimented with different colour glass, casting them separately with the aim of fusing and slumping them. I experimented with embossing, and I also used stencils to apply painted pigment and gold leaf on clear glass.

Fiaz has boundless technical knowledge and was so supportive and encouraging. It was also great to have some input from Jade on one of the days. I enjoyed the week and learned so much in a short time, it went too fast. I worked along-side other scholarship recipients, and we all got on so well. I am so grateful for this opportunity and look forward to developing the work I started here.”
