This is a rare opportunity for anyone who aspires to gain hands on skills and experience for a career in arts and crafts and to learn the skills necessary to work with kiln cast glass and finishing objects.  We have two positions for a studio assistant in a professional glass art manufacturing studio.

The job involves three distinct activities for which training will be provided –

Making - mould-making, kiln casting and finishing glass art under the guidance of studio staff.

Cleaning – this is messy work and there is always clearing up and tiding to do

Admin – Corresponding with galleries, answering emails and phone calls, packing and arranging postage for delicate artworks and commissions.

You will need to have an interest in the arts and crafts.  You will be strong enough to lift and manipulate heavy objects and use power tools and machinery for long periods. But you will also have the patience and dexterity to work with very delicate pieces of artwork.  You will need to have a good eye for detail a strong focus and be able to work to exacting standards in a busy and professional studio.  You will need to have good communication skills and be able to communicate appropriately with the public through email and over the phone.
