Gill Hobson, an established artist using glass to create stunning immersive installations, joined us to explore how she could bring her knowledge and sensitivity of colour to the kiln casting process.
"The scholarship was an amazing opportunity to reconnect with hands on making and meet new people - a perfect way to bring creativity back into life as we eased out of lockdown!Like many of our scholarship students they will be returning to complete their work in the summer months.
I learned so much from the experience, with fantastic and knowledgable support throughout. It’s really helped me to critically evaluate the potentials of the medium and the different ways I can approach making with limited resources. I’m currently looking at colour and the ways it can be effectively combined in simple forms, alongside cold working approaches, and will build on the scholarship experience further through reviewing outcomes and exploring next steps. Really looking forward to returning soon!"
